Ruth Gardiner was an accomplished New Zealand artist. She is held on file at Te Papa and was a member of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts from 1978 to 1983. Her subject matter ranges from landscapes and coastal scenes through to a wonderful series of ship paintings. This colourful intriguing work is a unique piece of history showing the Beehive under construction.
